2025广州Hi-End臻品展的现场,在众多音响爱好者与业界媒体的热切关注下,世纪格雷为新品GLD1.0数字播放器成功发布。这场活动由HiFi168的吴斌先生担当主持,世纪格雷创始人邓剑辉先生深度解析了GLD1.0的研发思路与技术亮点。这不止是一款产品的登场,更是一次技术理念的集中呈现。

发布会上,邓剑辉先生细致回溯了公司的发展轨迹:世纪格雷于2011在深圳创立,初创之际,其产品线聚焦蓝光视频产品;与众不同的是,与美国Marvell公司的深度合作,为其蓝光方案注入了“独立音频双时钟”架构——这一HiFi级数字时钟架构,让世纪格雷的蓝光产品在音质上早早确立领先地位。

At the 2025 Guangzhou Hi-End Premium Audio Exhibition, amid great anticipation from audiophiles and industry media, Cen.Grand successfully launched its new product — the GLD1.0 Digital Player. The event was hosted by Mr. Wu Bin of HiFi168, with Mr. Jianhui Deng, founder of Cen.Grand, delivering an in-depth presentation on the development philosophy and key technologies behind the GLD1.0. This was more than just a product debut — it was a focused display of technological vision.

 

During the launch, Mr. Deng offered a detailed review of the company’s journey: Cen.Grand was founded in 2011 in Shenzhen, with its initial product line centered around Blu-ray video players. What set the company apart early on was its deep collaboration with U.S.-based Marvell, which allowed Cen.Grand to incorporate a dual independent audio clock architecture into its Blu-ray solutions — a HiFi-grade digital clock system that quickly established its products as sound quality leaders in the category.

 

In 2013, the release of the 9i-AD audio-video player ignited strong interest in the HiFi market. 革故鼎新:GLD1.0数字播放器解析

长久以来,“数播不如CD”的说法在HiFi圈流传。经细致研究,世纪格雷发现症结在于数据传输环节——尤其是USB异步音频协议,作为允许数据错误的协议,叠加多数数字播放器采用的ARM方案并非为HiFi音频设计(无专用音频数据输出接口,仅能通过USB异步协议输出),数据完整性受损与算力不足的问题,共同制约了数播性能。

 

Since 2014, DSD audio has gradually become a focal point in the HiFi community. Responding to the shift in mainstream demand, Cen.Grand initiated the development of its DSD DAC solution. After five years of rigorous refinement, the demanding 1-bit architecture, upsampling capability, and clock reconstruction design were finally realized. In 2019, the DSDAC1.0 was officially launched, joining the ranks of the few true 1-bit DSD DACs in the world. In 2021, the milestone DSDAC1.0 Deluxe Edition made its debut. With class-leading performance, it received high praise and awards from multiple media outlets and quickly gained traction in the international market. Alongside the 9i-906 “Silver Fox” headphone amplifier, it became a shining emblem of Cen.Grand’s global presence in the HiFi field.

According to Mr. Deng, all of the more than 200 initial users have continued using their GLD1.0 units for nearly a year, with none choosing to abandon it. It’s worth noting that many of Cen.Grand’s users are veteran audiophiles; the GLD1.0 must possess exceptional qualities to earn such a position of prominence among them.

For years, the notion that “digital players are inferior to CD players” has circulated in the HiFi community. After meticulous research, Cen.Grand identified the root issue: the data transmission process. Easily Outperforms USB Interfaces

 

At the product launch event, Cen.Grand officially unveiled the GLD1.0 synchronous data digital player. At the same venue, a direct A/B listening comparison was conducted between the company’s proprietary POW transmission interface and traditional USB interfaces—clearly demonstrating the audible differences between the two.

 

Proprietary POW Transmission Protocol:
The term “POW” stands for “Parting of the Way”, symbolizing the separation of data and clock transmission. In this design, optical fiber carries the data, while a coaxial cable delivers the clock signal. At the DAC end, a specially designed receiving module reconstructs the two into standard I2S data, ensuring precise and high-fidelity playback.

As the primary demonstration system, Cen.Grand showcased the Deluxe Edition of the GLD1.0 digital transport as the source, paired with the DSDAC1.0 Deluxe Edition DAC. The amplification setup featured the fully balanced 9i-938 preamplifier and four 9i-958 high-power fully balanced monoblocks driving a pair of 15-inch ATC SCM 150PSLSE Signature Edition floorstanding speakers. Cen.Grand founder Mr. Jianhui Deng personally conducted a comparative listening session using the legendary Norwegian album "Fairytales"—a landmark in Norway's music history.

 

 

USB Interface Playback:


Without direct comparison, the USB interface delivers a commendable level of sound quality. Radka Toneff’s voice comes across as delicate and emotionally rich, with a gentle and nuanced tone. The piano accompaniment blends harmoniously with her vocals. Despite the use of the ATC SCM 150PSLSE Signature speakers known for their rich midrange, the high frequencies were reasonably airy and extended. However, some limitations became apparent: Radka's voice seemed to originate solely from the mouth, lacking support from the diaphragm and resonance from the head cavity. The vocal overtones felt like they were bouncing off a wall, slightly coarse and edgy. The piano timbre sounded a bit thin and hard, with a somewhat diminished sense of physical presence and scale.

If not heard in person, one might find it hard to believe that the same digital music file could sound so dramatically different through different transmission protocols.

 

With the support of GLD1.0’s innovative interface, Radka Toneff’s voice took on a remarkable new dimension—this is what true celestial sound should be. The overall tonal character became warmer and more relaxed, wrapping the listener in a breeze of sonic comfort. High frequencies extended with greater ease, and overtones shimmered across the soundstage like a sky full of stars. The sense of space expanded notably, and the earlier USB-induced “reflected overtone” effect vanished completely.

 

Radka’s vocal projection—from diaphragm to head resonance—was distinctly traceable, and her emotional expression reached straight to the heart. Every breath and vocal inflection felt palpably close. Whether it was the subtle shifts in her breathing or the vibration of the piano strings, the listener could feel every nuance with stunning clarity.

 

And that was just with small-scale jazz. When it came to large-scale orchestral music, the effect was truly electrifying. Thanks to the 100% signal integrity ensured by the GLD1.0 Deluxe Digital Transport’s POW interface, even digital files conveyed the density and richness of analog sources. The upper frequencies retained fullness while extending linearly and effortlessly. The highs became closer, airier, and more textured; instruments gained weight and dimensionality; and the bass reached deeper with authority.
